Your new career awaits

Nganampa Health Council now has an opportunity for a full-time Personal Care Attendant to join our dedicated aged care team, based in Pukatja (Ernabella), in remote North West, South Australia. Immediate start available!

Working under the direction of the Residential Care Manager, your main responsibility will be to plan and deliver high quality care to the residents of the Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura aged care facility.

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing individual care plans;
  • Assisting residents to achieve maximum independence, with consideration given to physical and psychological impairments that may exist;
  • Delivering personal care in a culturally safe and appropriate manner;
  • Observing and reporting all changes in residents' conditions to the Registered Nurse and Residential Care Manager; and
  • Reporting in a timely fashion on all complaints and incidents.

This could also be a great opportunity for an existing EN looking for a change in role or to move away from a traditional hospital environment.

At Nganampa Health, our people are our greatest strength

To be successful, it is essential that you have demonstrated experience in Australia as a Personal Care Worker (ideally 3+ years), working with frail, aged and disabled people in an aged care setting. You will also hold a Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or an equivalent EN qualification.

We are seeking an adaptable and flexible individual who can display the initiative, discretion and cultural sensitivity needed to support and drive the organisation's objectives and values. In addition, it is vital you display a high level of personal maturity given the remote location of the role.

If you are open to change, accepting of and interested in engaging with Aboriginal people, and comfortable living in a remote environment, this is the role for you! Prior experience working with Aboriginal communities in a remote setting, combined with your ability to communicate and participate effectively within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary health team, will be pivotal to your success.

To be considered, you must be willing to undergo a Police Check prior to commencing employment and hold a current First Aid Certificate and manual driver’s licence. Experience driving a 4WD vehicle will be advantageous but not essential.

Why join the Nganampa Health team?

In return for your professionalism, commitment and care, Nganampa Health brings you a truly unique and satisfying career opportunity.

We offer excellent financial rewards and the chance to develop a remarkable skill set and experience a different side to Australia. But most importantly, we empower you to make a difference on the frontline of primary health care for Indigenous Australians.

As a Personal Care Attendant at Nganampa Health, you will receive an excellent remuneration up to $62,039 (with Certificate IV qualifications), plus super. You will also receive a range of benefits including:

  • Annual district allowance;
  • Furnished rent-free housing including some meals;
  • Penalty & leave loadings and overtime entitlements;
  • Free electricity and subsidised internet and telephone access;
  • Relocation assistance (negotiable);

These incredible rewards bring your salary package up to an approximate $133,000 per annum!

To help you embrace the challenge, we provide a true learning culture, professional processes and unrivalled support for you and your patients. Join us and become an integral part of our close, collaborative staff community.
