About the Opportunity

Nganampa Health Council (NHC) now has a newly created opportunity for a full-time Human Resources & Operations Manager to join their team, based in the Alice Springs office.

The Human Resource & Operations Manager has four areas of responsibility:

  1. Human Resources
  2. Organisational Development
  3. Industrial Relations
  4. Work Health and Safety and Injury Management

More specifically, this role will see you:

  • Managing and leading staff recruitment, retention and development;
  • Providing high level advice to senior management and staff who manage others;
  • Assisting managers to strengthen capabilities of staff to ensure organisational success;
  • Ensuring staff are supported through NHC Employee Assistance Scheme;
  • Assisting the Health Services Manager to ensure NHC complies with its obligations under work health safety legislation;
  • Have overall responsibility for corporate support services, including human resources and fleet management;
  • Have overall responsibility for the effective and efficient functioning of the NHC Alice Springs office; and
  • Have supervision of the Fleet Manager, Administration Assistant and casual administration staff.

We are looking for an experienced operational management and administrative professional, preferably from a health or social and community services background. You must also be able to work within a cross cultural framework and have an interest in fostering Aboriginal self-determination. Previous experience working with aboriginal community controlled organisations would be advantageous.

The ability to prioritise competing priorities to deadlines, alongside strong organisational and delegation skills, will ensure your success, as well as having relevant qualifications in human resources and/or extensive demonstrated relevant experience in human resources. Knowledge of current trends and practices in human resources, industrial relations and WHS, as well as an understanding of vicarious trauma including self-care, and experience in the development and implementation of projects and policy, will be a requirement.

If successful you must be willing to comply with NHC’s immunisation requirements and undergo a Police Check and a Working with Children Check. A manual driver's licence is essential, and it would be advantageous to have experience with 4WD vehicles, although a 2-day 4WD training course will be provided.

Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far north-western region of South Australia. The APY Lands cover roughly 103,000 square km, with a population of approx. 3,000 Anangu people. The region is freehold land controlled by the Anangu people.
